    Frequently Asked Questions

Q: With this whole house system, do I still need to install a water softener if my water is very hard?
A: Yes, a water softener is needed if your source water has a high level of hardness, usually with TDS higher than 700 PPM. Hard water can reduce the lifespan of whole house water filter cartridges. The harder the water, the greater amount of scale buildup occurs, and the sooner the filters get clogged.
This whole house water filter can remove up to 95% of sediment, chlorine, rust, pesticides, herbicides, industrial solvents, and various other contaminants that a regular water softener can't, although it does not soften your water. It is recommended that you install this WCB32O whole house system after your water softener to achieve optimal performance if you have hard water.
To determine which product best suits your need, it is recommended that you get a professional water test done prior to purchase to identify the main issue of your source water.
NOTE: Water Softeners and whole house systems usually do not lower the TDS level of the water. An additional Reverse Osmosis system may be necessary for your drinking water. Please consult iSpring professionals prior to purchase if you are unsure of which product will meet your needs.

Q: What type of Whole House Water Filter do I need?
A: If you are on municipal water that isn't contaminated with heavy metals like iron, manganese and lead, the WCB32O is the system to go with. Naturally occurring metals are a commonplace in most well water sources however, and that is where the WGB32BM or WGB32B-PB earns its keep.
If you are on well water or have heavy metals in your municipal water supply, you may want to consider the WGB32BM or WGB32B-PB over the WCB32O. For removing the common contaminants found in the majority of municipal water supplies however, the WCB32O fits the bill.

Q: What flow rate should I look for?
A: Measured in gallons per minute (GPM), flow rate determines the amount of water available to run your shower, toilet, hot water heater, dishwasher, etc. When calculating your requirements look at the demand ratings printed on your appliances and toilet. Depending on the size of your house and family your water flow rate requirements may range from 5 to 40 GPM.

    Product Description

    Style:All Blue Housing

The WCB32O whole house filtration system is a "point of entry" filtration system for cleaning up water supplies to a home or business on municipal (city) water. Unlike "point of use" systems (like reverse osmosis systems) that are installed to supply water to a specific faucet, the WCB32O filters your water from the source. This means water from every output in your home or business will have passed through the three filtration stages of the WCB32O.

So what exactly do these three stages of filtration offer? Used as the first stage of defense on the system, the stage 1 housing holds a 5-micron polypropylene sediment filter. This filter removes dirt and other various larger-sized particles from the water that can clog the following filters. The second and third stages of the WCB32O house 5-micron CTO coconut shell carbon block filters. Block carbon is finely ground up carbon packed into a solidified block. They knock out bad tastes and odors, combine to remove up to 99% of chlorine from the water, and are highly effective on pesticides, herbicides, and industrial chemicals.

If you are on well water or have unusual contaminants in your municipal water supply, you may want to consider the WGB32BM over the WCB32O. For removing the common contaminants found in the majority of municipal water supplies however, the WCB32O fits the bill.

First off, shout out to Don who works at ispring for helping me out. All support credit goes to him. TL;DR - Great Unit, Don at iSpring was extremely excellent, if I had a chance to do-over, i might have gone for the bigger unit (most likely will if I ever replace this one) I bought this unit in 2019, but didn't install it until I moved into my current house. Boy oh boy was it a nightmare getting in. I'm a DIYer and love a good challenge. I'll spare my details, but basically I had to change where I mounted it because of the location of the water line coming in and the space around it. Note* I did not install a bypass, but rather an inline-leg. So to change the filters I have to shut the water off at the house. I'm fine with that, but others may not be. Once installed tho, the water chambers filled nicely. Water started flowing. About 2 mins later, the unit started leaking at the in/out female connector. That was my fault, not enough Teflon. But the male/male connectors in between also started dripping. I called support and spoke with Don who was very informative and helpful. He suggested different Teflon (Blue Monster - excellent stuff more on that later). He was also shocked about the leak in between the filters so he said he would send a replacement head unit. Unit arrived and unfortunately it was a new model type where the filters were closer together so I had to cut my pipe up a bit to make it fit. Teflon Blue Monster, YMMV, but I put 6 wraps on it and put the male connector in, then backed it out to put 4 more wraps on it. The 6 wraps formed this nice plastic sheath/coating on the male connector so I knew it would make an excellent seal this time (the original Teflon I used was like 4 wraps of cheap lowes stuff, and it disintegrated as it came out). New unit in place, turn the water back on. No leaks on the in/out connection. However, the male/male connector in between the filter did start to have water form up. I took pictures and sent them over to Don. I opted for compensation of 1 set of new filters as I would rather not have to install another head unit. IF/When the leak progresses , I'll see if I can wrap the connector units with blue monster as well. Water taste is great, I love that it's 0 waste and the whole house has nice clean water. It's so comforting to know that even my toilets are filled with purified filtered gold. Hopefully this is helpful. If you take nothing else away, know that my case is unique. I don't think it happens often. But iSpring WILL take very good care of you.
