    Is a sediment filter necessary?

Spin down filters are generally recommended for use with well water or if you have high amounts of sediment. City water or Municipal water sources usually do not have high levels of residue but can have sediment issues; it depends on the quality of the source water and sediment that needs to be removed from the source water.

Can water filters be cleaned and reused?

Yes. iSpring WSP Spin Down Sediment Filters can be flushed, cleaned, and reused.

How do you filter sediment out of water?

The best solution will be installing a sediment filter.

Which is better 5 micron or 20 micron?

It depends on the amount of sediment in your water. 5-micron is a finer filtration than 20-micron, but it is also easier to get clogged.

What will a 1 micron water filter remove?

What is the best sediment filter for a well?

iSpring spin-down filters are generally recommended for use with well water because they are flushable, reusable, and have various & larger microns, so they would be less likely to get clogged by the sediments from the well.

Which is better 1 micron or 5 micron filter?

    Who makes iSpring water filters?

Is a 10 micron filter better than 5 micron?

What micron filter is best for well water? / What size spin down filter do I need? / How do I know which size cartridge to order? 50, 100, 200, 1000 micron? / How many microns should my water filter be?

The size cartridge you’ll need depends on the size and the amount of sediment it will have to treat. The smaller sizes will remove the most residue, but excess or large particles can clog them quickly and require frequent flushing. If you notice that you need frequent flushing, consider using a larger size screen and using additional treatment after the sediment filter to catch the fine particles.

Is a 5 micron water filter good?

Do I need a sediment filter?

If you are on well water, then mostly, yes. If you are on city or municipal water sources, you can check if there are any contaminants in your water from the EPA website: https://www.ewg.org/tapwater/.

What is the difference between 1 micron and 5 micron filter?

What Micron is best for water filter?

How does a spin down sediment filter work?

The iSpring WSP spin-down sediment filter is the first line of defense for your plumbing system, faucets, and appliances. Removing dirt, sand, and rust particles protects and extends the life of your standard filters. It also prevents the faucets from being damaged by “grinding.” Statistics show that it saves up to 20% of water consumption from being wasted by “dripping faucets” in commercial and public buildings.

Should I expect a water pressure (psi) reduction by using WSP sediment filter? if so, what pressure % drop have you experienced?

You shouldn't notice any loss of water pressure immediately after installing the filter. However, if you allow sediment to collect on the screen without regular flushing, this could cause your pressure to drop.

Is this only supposed to be use in conjunction with a water softener?

Is the clear housing glass or plastic?

High impact plastic, BPA free and weatherproof.

How is it compared to Rusco spin down filter, this one seems of higher quality, does it work better?

    Is the brass lead free?

    Yes, it's lead-free brass.

Is the plastic part bpa free? what kind of plastic is it?

The plastic portion of this unit is made from PCTG, and it is BPA-free. For more details, please contact us at (678)261-7611

Is there a mounting bracket available for WSP spin down filter?

Yes. A mounting bracket should be included in the product package. If it's missing, please feel free to contact us.

I am on city water and I will be installing the blue whole home filters. Is WSP spin down sediment filter a good idea as well or is it over kill?

This spin-down filter is generally recommended for use with well water or if you have high amounts of sediment. City water or Municipal water sources usually do not have high levels of residue but can have sediment issues; it depends on the quality of the source water and if there is sediment that needs to be removed from the source water.

What gives a smaller pass 1000 microns or 50 microns?

50-micron is a finer mesh screen than 1000-micron by a factor of 20 times.

Is WSP spin-down sediment filter only supposed to be use in conjunction with a water softener?

No, you can use it without a softener. It doesn't soften; it just removes dirt/sediment. If you use it with a softener, it should be placed before the softener to protect the softener and extend its lifespan.

What is a 1" MNPT and what is a 3/4" FNPT?

Male or Female National Pipe Thread. If your house has 3/4-inch pipes, you need two male adapters to screw onto the connections. If your house has 1-inch pipes, you'll need two female adapters to screw onto the connections.

I am on city water and I will be installing the blue whole home filters. Is WSP spindown water sediment filter a good idea as well or is it over kill?

Yes, the flow direction is marked on the housing. The arrow on the filter housing indicates which way to install the filter. The water flow should match the direction of the arrow on the filter housing.

What is the pressure rating on this sediment filter? Our water pressure can be over 100 psi.

The recommended water pressure for this filter is 25-80 psi. If your water pressure is higher, you will need to install a pressure regulator.

Will I lose any water pressure after installing this filter?

Does WSP spin down water filter soften hard water?

This filter only removes sediment, leaving all the dissolved solids such as minerals and heavy metals behind. To soften the water, you will need a salt-based water softener or a reverse osmosis system.

What size tube does the flush valve use?

The flush valve uses 3/8” OD tubing.

How do I know which size cartridge to order? 50, 100, 200, 1000 micron?

In addition to flushing, how do I clean the screen? Would a soft toothbrush be appropriate?

You can rinse the screen by spraying water and, if necessary, a soft brush.

Can you use WSP sediment filter with hot water? If so, how hot?

This filter is recommended to be installed before the water heater as hot water can damage it.

If I order one size, is it possible to use the cartridge from one of the other sizes available if I want to swap later?

All of the spin down filter cartridges use the same housing, so the cartridges themselves are completely interchangeable if you need to swap to a different size

Could I connect this spin down water filter permanently to a drain so that I don't have to regularly flush it?

No, if you open the bottom valve permanently, the unit loses pressure and all of the water goes to the drain.

Can this WSP sediment water filter be installed and used outdoors?

You can install it outdoors but make sure it is NOT exposed to direct sunlight or freezing temperatures.
